Vegetarian keto margherita pizza

Craving for pizza? This delicious low carb pizza crust is simply made with almond flour, cream cheese and shredded mozzarella. It is really tasty, very easy to prepare and gluten-free. Top it up with your favourite toppings and you have an amazing fresh-baked homemade low carb pizza!

Ingredients

Crust

1.5 cup(s) shredded mozzarella - regular or vegetarian (168 gr)

2 tbsp(s) cream cheese (29 gr)

85 gr almond flour

salt (to taste)

Crust - Optional

1 large egg(s) (50 gr)

Sauce

0.5 cup(s) marinara sauce - no added sugar (132 gr)

2 tbsp(s) olive oil (27 gr)

0.5 tsp(s) dried ground oregano (1 gr)

0.5 tsp(s) dried ground thyme (1 gr)

salt (to taste)

ground black pepper (to taste)

Cheese

1.5 cup(s) shredded mozzarella - regular or vegetarian (168 gr)

Garnish

10 fresh basil leaves (5 gr)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C / 350°F and prepare the pizza crust according to our "Almond flour dough" recipe
    • Prep time: 10 minutes. Cook time: 12 minutes
  2. In a bowl, mix the marinara sauce* with the olive oil, oregano & thyme. Season with a bit of salt & pepper, if needed
  3. Using a spoon, spread the sauce evenly on the crust
  4. Optionally top it with thin tomato slices** and spread the mozzarella cheese
  5. Bake for 3-4 minutes using the oven broiler (or for about 10 minutes in the oven), until the mozzarella has melted
  6. Using a pizza cutter or a knife, cut the pizza into 6 pieces
  7. Garnish with some fresh basil leaves and serve
